On Friday 13th March 2020, Inala Community House Healthy Ageing Program (SkyLarkers) celebrated our long-time member John’s 80th Birthday Bash with our community.
From 11am, the celebration was held at our SkyLarkers centre (20 Skylark Street, Inala QLD).
Thank you to our special guest Forest Lake Ward Councillor Charles Strunk for joining us on this joyous occasion. There was also a lively discussion about local matters.
Also a big thank you to Milton Dick MP for sending over a special card and a gift for John.
“Our dear member John has been active since joining our Healthy Ageing Program (SkyLarkers) 5 years ago with his wife Joan. He has become an incredibly valued member of our community centre. John volunteers at least 3 times a week to work on our gardens. We all love and adore him. I feel privileged to celebrate John’s milestone birthday today with our staff and community,” our Community Engagement Manager Haley Kiata said.
“Thank you all very much – I certainly do not expect anything of this. All I can say is thank you,” a very happy John said in his birthday speech.
“On behalf of everyone at our community centre, happy birthday John! You deserve all the goodness in the world for the work that you do for our community. We always see you working at our gardens without a hat on, so we got you one!” our Community Engagement Coordinator Leah Nguyen said.
We hope John enjoys his special celebration with us today, and our gifts – a big sun hat and a $100 Bunnings gift card perfect for all his gardening needs!
