On Wednesday 4th July 2018, Inala Community House Out of Home Care team organised a ‘Sports Day in the Park’ event during the school holidays for our valued foster carers and children.
From 9am to 2pm, our dedicated team had planned a full day of fun sports activities for all ages to get active and enjoy themselves. We were excited to see many happy, excited faces joining us on this lovely sunny day out at a local park.
We welcomed everyone to enjoy the fresh fruits and snacks spread, with lively music playing in the background. Colourful balloons adorned the venue. A big picnic mat was spread out for our foster carers and children to lounge about while catching up with each other. Various toys were supplied to engage with children and especially babies who were still too young for our sports activities – their time will come!
For the Sports Day, we encouraged everyone – both adults and children – to join in as many activities as possible. To keep things interesting, we held a variety of games testing different skills, such as sack race, running, dress-up challenge, egg race and more.
Everyone had a ball!
It was heartening to watch our children and foster carers getting physically active, bonding and creating precious, happy memories together for the day.
After all the sports activities, everyone sat down and enjoyed a delicious BBQ sausage sizzle lunch together before heading home.
“This marks our first main foster care social event for the year. We look forward to having another one during this September’s school holidays,” said our Out of Home Care Intake Coordinator Tracey Crosby.
