“A good teacher can inspire hope, ignite the imagination and instil a love of learning.”

On Wednesday 6th September 2017, ‘My Place’ Family Day Care celebrated Happy Early Childhood Educators Day with our Children, Families, Educators and Coordinators.

Started by Australian Childcare Alliance Queensland, Early Childhood Educators Day recognises and celebrates the work of educators in long day care, kindergarten/preschool services, family day care and occasional care, for their wonderful contribution to the wellbeing and healthy development of the young children in their care. The event is held every year on the first Wednesday in September. (Find out more: https://www.earlychildhoodeducatorsday.org.au)

It is amazing to see ‘My Place’ Family Day Care scheme to make the extra effort in celebrating the day with us Educators, especially when some of our Parents or Families may not be able to. Thank you for the cake and flowers. I have been an Educator for two and a half years – it is a challenging yet rewarding job. Flexibility is the biggest job advantage as I am able to set work hours suited to my family’s needs. As a mother, I am able to look after my own children and other wonderful little people as well. Being an Educator also provides me the knowledge and experience to transition into the Coordination Unit in future,” said our Educator Kim Gibson (view Kim’s profile: http://myplacefdc.org.au/care-centre/kim-gibson).

I have been an Educator for a year and a half. Being an Educator offers great work-life balance. I also love caring for children from my own Goodna home,” said our Educator Sue McGrath. Sue’s excellent Family Day Care service has always ensured full vacancies, even with a waiting list (view Sue’s profile: http://myplacefdc.org.au/care-centre/sue-mcgrath).

I am passionate in caring for children’s health and wellbeing. I also teach English skills to a little Samoan girl in my care through reading and conversing. I love bringing the children out on day excursions to different places like local parks, libraries and community. I also appreciate the opportunity to attend weekly ‘My Place’ playgroups to socialise with children from other backgrounds, learn new cultures and enjoy a good playtime together. I previously worked for another service that had dodgy practices and didn’t pay me on time. Right now I am very happy to stay as a ‘My Place’ Family Day Care Educator,” said our Educator Vaolotu Fualema (view Vaolotu’s profile: http://myplacefdc.org.au/care-centre/vaolotu-fualema).

Thank you everyone again for coming today as we gather to acknowledge, celebrate and appreciate all the amazing hard work that our Family Day Care Educators do every day,” said ‘My Place’ Family Day Care Educational Leader Britt Quince.

Everyone enjoyed a slice of cake courteously baked by our Senior Coordinator Kathy Angus. In the end, every Educator left with a rose, a ‘thank you’ card and a big smile on their face.

‘My Place’ Family Day Care welcomes everyone to join our weekly playgroup session from 9am-12pm at ‘Our Place’ Playground (corner Japonica and Robinia Streets, Inala, Queensland). For any enrolment enquiries, please contact us (07) 3372 1711 | FDCadmin@ich.org.au.
