In this new year, ‘My Place’ Family Day Care is excited to welcome our newest Coordinator Lia Robinson.
Here’s a quick chat with the lovely Lia:
Welcome Lia, tell us how did you find out about ‘My Place’ Family Day Care?
I had heard previously about the service within the community and know one of the existing Coordinators Lara.
What made you decide to become a Coordinator with us? What attracted you to this job?
I have worked many years in the childcare sector and also residential care for youth and disability, and I wanted to be involved in this profession. I had sourced information previously regarding the role of a Coordinator, as I feel very passionately about supporting Educators and enriching children’s lives in a home environment.
How has it been so far? What are your hopes for this new role?
I began this role this week and have been supported immensely with fellow colleagues’ knowledge, experience and expectations. Manager Kathy and Head Coordinator Britt have already given me the opportunity to meet with a couple of Educators to kickstart my role as a Coordinator.
As a team we have had valid conversations with regards to our work environment.
I want to ensure I give my absolute best work ethic within my new work environment, while providing support to the Educators I work with and grow alongside them.
What do you think is the biggest benefit of family day care? One for Educator, one for the children or families.
I believe a home environment absolutely supports each child’s individual needs.
For an Educator, more valuable time in delivering a quality program and individual time with each child.
For our families, being able to support them when needed and knowing their child is safe and happy.
Finally, what is your wish for 2021?
Ensuring each of our Educators, children, families and fellow Coordinators are supported and feel comfortable and confident with me.
