Inala Community House attended the Domestic Violence Community Forum held by ALP candidate for Oxley Milton Dick today at Blue Fin Fishing Club.
Many local community services attended including Inala Community House, South West Legal Brisbane and Inala Youth Service.
The Forum was eventful and productive as all services had the opportunity to gather and discuss key issues to prevent domestic violence in our community.
“We need to acknowledge that many migrants especially female migrants may face greater difficulty in cases of domestic violence due to visa issues, social isolation and cultural differences. At the same time local services are facing the risks of government funding cuts,” said our Community Services Manager Haley Kiata.
Inala Community House runs a Community Support Program (CSP) to help victims of domestic violence, and Community Settlement Service (CSS) to help migrant victims of domestic violence more specifically.
