On Monday 9th September 2019, Inala Community House Community Engagement team celebrated Musical Morning Tea 41st Birthday Bash with our community.
From 10am, the celebration was held at ‘Our Place’ Hall (corner of Japonica and Robinia streets, Inala QLD). We welcomed everyone to join us for $3 per person to enjoy a delicious BBQ meal and live music entertainment.
“Welcome everyone, we hope you enjoy today. Today is our 41st birthday party with a Hawaiian theme! Special thanks to all who joined us in dressing up. Thank you to our volunteers Aileen, Jimmy, Thelma, Des and more working hard in the kitchen. Thank you to our Community Engagement Manager Haley Kiata. Please enjoy some morning tea before the BBQ lunch served at 11am,” Musical Morning Tea Coordinator Shirley Schneider said in the opening speech.
“A big aloha to everyone, please join us in singing and dancing at the dance floor,” our entertainer for the event John said.
John performed many upbeat Hawaiian and beach themed music, along with some fun trivia about Hawaii.
Thank you everyone for dressing up in cheery tropical outfits with some grass skirts spotted, topped with colourful birthday hats. Besides dancing, we also played games like limbo, chicken dance and party train. It was great to see a diverse group of members having fun together.
“I am really impressed with this year’s Hawaiian-themed celebration. Have a lot of fun everyone. Here’s to many more years of Musical Morning Tea. Thank you Haley, Shirley and everyone,” our Managing Director Ross Paul said in his speech.

For the BBQ lunch, we prepared many different salads, Haley’s famous potato bake, marinated chicken wings, steaks, sausages and more.
“What a fantastic milestone – 41 years of providing inclusive Musical Morning Tea focused on community connectedness. Our team and I feel blessed to celebrate another birthday with our wonderful Musical Morning Tea group,” our Community Engagement Manager Haley Kiata said.
