Community Engagement: iPad Donations by Heritage Bank Forest Lake

On Tuesday 10th September 2019, Inala Community House Community Engagement team held an appreciation ceremony to thank Heritage Bank Forest Lake for their iPad donations to help our various clients including Homework Club students, seniors, migrants and more.

The ceremony coincided with our free Homework Club held every Tuesday (during school term) 3-4.30pm at our SkyLarkers community centre (20 Skylark St, Inala QLD). We welcome all students and volunteer tutors to join us in making learning fun.

Besides the iPad donations, it was also a great opportunity for Heritage Bank to visit our students and learn more about our community needs.

“Hi everybody, we have a special guest today – Melanie from Heritage Bank visiting our centre. Let us say a big hi to welcome her. As you know, the Heritage Bank team has been very generous to us. We have been using the iPads previously donated from them and now we are getting more new iPads to help with our learning!” our Homework Club Coordinator Anushka Abeyewardene said, welcoming Melanie to our roomful of excited students.

We hope that the donated iPads will be useful and I’m sure they will be well-used here. We look forward to learning more about Inala Community House community programs in the long run,” Melanie Keating from Heritage Bank said.

Children were given the opportunity to openly share what they could use the iPads for, such as:

I use the iPad to work out words via online dictionary.

It can help with my homework.

We can download learning apps and play games together.

Heritage Bank Forest Lake had previously donated 2 iPads and 2 laptops, plus 4 more new iPads today.

Thank you Heritage Bank!
