Family Steps (Family Intervention Service): Christmas Hamper Donations

Family Steps is a Family Intervention Service under Inala Community House. Our aim is to increase the protective factors for the family and the child, improve relationships and parenting skills which result in the family exiting the child protection system and subsequently preventing re-entering.

We are funded by Department of Communities, Child Safety and Disability Services and work with Forest Lake and Inala Child Safety Service Centres (CSSC).

Santa’s little helpers: our Family Steps Team Leader Debbie Jones and staff Jess Liao.

Packing with love: every Family Steps family will receive a donated Christmas hamper containing useful everyday essentials and toys – just in time for Christmas!

Inala Community House Family Steps is excited to run its yearly Christmas tradition of donating, collecting and putting together Christmas hampers as a special end-of-the-year gift to our families who face bigger issues especially around this time of the year.

“Many people may not be aware that Christmas can actually be a more trying time for some families battling social isolation, financial or other life challenges. We hope that these Christmas hampers can bring a little more joy and support to those less fortunate than others,” said Family Steps Team Leader Debbie Jones.

These hampers are generously donated by local charities (Hands of Hope www.handsofhope.org.au, and Share the Dignity www.sharethedignity.com.au), councils, organisations and kind public members who want to help those in need.

Besides our own Family Steps staff, we were also delightfully moved by donations from other Inala Community House services like Western Districts Out of Home Care Foster Carers.

We generally encourage donations of long-life food items and everyday essentials. Toys are welcomed too, which our parents can re-gift to their children, as many do not have the money to buy on their own.
