My Place Family Day Care: National Simultaneous Storytime

National Simultaneous Storytime is an annual event held by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) – whereby an Australian picture book is read simultaneously by children all around the country.

This year My Place Family Day Care encouraged all our educators and children to join us for our National Simultaneous Storytime playgroup on Wednesday 19th May 2021.

This year’s chosen book was Give Me Some Space! by Philip Bunting.

The space theme was great to inspire curious little minds about space, science and exploration.

As a result, we had set up our playgroup with a lot of exciting space-themed activities!

This was the moon rock station – where children can creatively make their own “moon rocks” using aluminium foil. Then they had lots of fun taking turns tossing their moon rocks into the the “black hole” (bucket)!

A space drawing station – here is our Playgroup Coordinator Nicole teaching a child about the solar system.

The craft table where children can make their own glittery stars!

Playgroup ended with Simultaneous Storytime at 11am reading the chosen book.

Educators and children were able to bring home the remaining playgroup resources to continue their own “space exploration” at home! Did you join this year’s National Simultaneous Storytime?

We always welcome new educators and families to join us. For more information about My Place Family Day Care, please contact our friendly team 3372 1711 | FDCadmin@ich.org.au | www.MyPlaceFDC.org.au
