Q: Hi Pat, why did you become a ‘My Place’ Family Day Care Educator?
A: Hi, my name is Pat. I started working as an Educator as a great opportunity to earn extra income while staying at home with my younger children. I also did a lot of child minding prior to Family Day Care. I enjoy working with babies and young children.
Q: What are the benefits of being a Family Day Care Educator in your current age and stage of life?
A: I find it incredibly rewarding to look after young children and watch them grow and learn. You can earn an income and work flexible hours to suit your own circumstances. Make great friends with other Educators. Meet and befriend new families from all walks of life, countries and cultures, while creating memories that last a lifetime.
Q: What are the advantages you can offer as an Educator with greater life experiences as compared to younger Educators?
A: You will have more patience and aren’t as easily stressed as a younger person with young children. You can provide a more established, stable and secure environment. You are able to show children how to enjoy the outdoors, play games and interact with others without the use of modern technology!
Q: Any advice for people over 50 who wants to become a Family Day Care Educator?
A: You will come to love children and it is incredibly rewarding to watch them grow into their own personalities. It keeps you young in mind and body. It is a way to boost your income. As a Family Day Care Educator, you will get the opportunity to upskill yourself and learn new things such as computer skills for myself.

Q: Hi Carolyn, why did you become a ‘My Place’ Family Day Care Educator?
A: My grandchildren and children live in a different state and I missed having children around. So I naturally became a ‘My Place’ Family Day Care Educator!
Q: What are the benefits of working as a Family Day Care Educator in your current age and stage of life?
A: Main benefits include the amazing freedom to determine your own work hours and number of children to care. You will get extra income and spending power. The children keep you young too!
Q: What are the advantages you can offer as an Educator with greater life experiences as compared to younger Educators?
A: I have had four children and nine grandchildren so plenty of hands-on child care experience. I have also accumulated many years of experience to successfully encourage children in learning new things and handling various life situations.
Q: Any advice for people over 50 who wants to become a Family Day Care Educator?
A: It is never too late to start. You are always welcome to come have a chat and see what it is like.
