Healthy Ageing Program (Acacia Ridge): Our New Community Garden

On Friday 6th November 2020, Inala Community House Healthy Ageing Program (Acacia Ridge) was excited to kickstart our new community garden at our Acacia Ridge centre (29 Chardean St.) with our enthusiastic seniors.

It was a great team effort as we dug out the old embedded roots to replace with new plants. A big thank you to Bunnings Acacia Ridge for their generous donation of all new gardening equipment, flower bulbs, herbs and vegetables ready to be planted.

We are all super excited to see the fruits – or vegetables – of our labour and hopefully at our next BBQ we can have a salad from our own garden. It is wonderful to be back spending face-to-face time with our communities whilst practising social distancing,” our Community Engagement Manager Haley Kiata said.

One of our awesome Acacia Ridge senior members Jenny who came to help out.

I have been coming to this centre for indoor bowling for over two years. I love gardening and I think it’s a great exciting initiative. With everyone’s help, we hope to keep up the effort in sprucing up our brand new garden,” Jenny said.

It was a great morning as we all enjoyed a yummy sausage sizzle after working hard at our new garden.
