Community Engagement: Murri Kids in the Park

On Friday 2nd August 2019, Inala Community House Community Engagement team helped to organise Murri Kids in the Park.

From 10am-12pm, the free community event was held near our Acacia Ridge centre (29 Chardean St, Acacia Ridge).

The event offered various free fun activities for children up to 5 years including:

  • Face-painting
  • Music
  • Information stalls
  • Art and craft
  • Sensory play
  • Games
  • Free healthy fruits

Many community services stalls and representatives were present to provide useful information to families too.

The main aim of the event was to educate and celebrate Indigenous culture within our community, with all activities having an Indigenous focus.

Our Inala Community House team helped to provide part of the venue and serve delicious barbecue lunch to many happy children, educators and families. Everyone was hungry after all the activities!

There are so many things you can do and explore around. The children are enjoying this free fun day out,” one of the childcare Educators said.

Thank you Uncle Marlin for doing the smoking ceremony with children walking through; Aunty Sharon for recreating Old MacDonald nursery while Aunty Alex used Indigenous animals for the performance.
