Out of Home Care: Children’s Christmas Party

Our Inala Community House Out of Home Care team celebrated another wonderful year with all our incredible foster and kinship families, along with all the children in care at our 2018 Children’s Christmas Party on 19th December.

2018 has been a very busy year for our foster and kinship carers. All our carers have worked hard in continually providing a happy and welcoming home environment for the children and young people, taking them on holidays, and helping them achieve important milestones. We are grateful to have an incredible carer community who shows so much dedication to the children in care and provide invaluable support for each other – truly an amazing group of individuals!

“Christmas can be difficult for children and young people who are separated from their families. Equally this can be a challenging time for carers who endeavour to provide a safe and supportive environment for the children and young people. Events like this Christmas Party allow everyone to gather together and share their experiences, spend time together in an environment where they feel accepted,” said our Placement Coordinator, Tracey.

At the Christmas Party, our lovely staff had cooked up some delicious food, prepared various fruits and non-alcoholic beverages for all our carers and children. Nearby the picnic area, there was also a water park where everyone could cool down, go for extra bit of fun and excitement, perfect for both younger and older kids, as well as the adults.

Later that day, we were also fortunate enough to be visited by Santa as he handed out presents for all children and young people. Seeing all their faces light up with joy and delight as they receive the gifts was also a wonderful experience for all adults, carers and staff alike.

Inala Community House Out of Home Care thank all individuals and organisations who supported us throughout 2018. These include: the Office of Anastasia Palaszczuk MP, the Office of Milton Dick MP, the Office of the Lord Mayor Graham Quirk, Hands of Hope, and our sister program, ‘My Place’ Family Day Care.
