On Tuesday 27th June 2017, Inala Community House and its services participated in the 2017 Multicultural Youth Day presented by the Police Community Youth Centre (PCYC) and Multicultural Community Network.
Multicultural Youth Day has become a major event in our Inala community, as it continues to draw a bigger crowd each year. It aims to celebrate cultural richness, harmony and friendships in our increasingly diverse community. As a drug and alcohol-free event, it also promotes physical, mental and social health for all ages especially those between 8-25.
The free public event was held from 10am-3pm at PCYC Inala Centre (37 Swallow Street, Inala QLD). As it coincided with school holidays, the event successfully drew thousands of children, young people and families to join in a full day of fun.
Everyone was free to roam around and enjoy major rides, children’s rides, rock wall and bungee, animal and reptile displays, police displays, pony rides, baby play areas, multicultural performances and foods.
Inala Community House participated by setting up a stall for the day. Our friendly staff greeted the public and promoted individual services according to enquiry type and need. We also provided useful community information and referral support.
The biggest attraction at our stall was free face-painting using unique shapes of Australian animals like kangaroo, emu, koala and more as a fun way to promote wildlife education. Thank you everyone who came to support us – we managed to paint many excited faces of children and families.

Besides organising our Inala Community House stall, our team also actively coordinated with other aspects of Multicultural Youth Day such as stage performances and bake sale to raise funds.

“Today marks a wonderful opportunity to promote Inala Community House within our community while networking with other community-oriented organisations and groups. We garnered various interests particularly in ‘My Place’ Family Day Care, our upcoming ‘Project Mentor’ to help young people at risk, and general information about our community events,” said our Community Engagement Coordinator Daniel Kennedy.
