On Friday 20th September 2019, Inala Community House Healthy Ageing Program (SkyLarkers) organised a free Bunnings Kokedama workshop to benefit all members of our community.
Thank you Bunnings Oxley for donating all materials used for this workshop and a friendly staff member to lead this workshop!
From 10.30am, the workshop was held at our SkyLarkers centre (20 Skylark St., Inala QLD). We welcomed everyone to join us with a gold coin donation for afternoon tea.
We were thrilled to see a diverse group of participants signed up for this event.
For over an hour, we got our hands dirty together while making our own Kokedama. Kokedama is the Japanese art of growing plants in a moss-covered ball of soil wrapped with string. They can be displayed on a decorative surface or hung by string anywhere in the house.
We received many happy positive comments such as:
“This is our first time making Kokedama together and it’s great fun!”
“I like gardening and belong to a gardening club. I saw this free workshop advertised on Inala Community House’s Facebook page, so decided to come here for the first time. I enjoyed this workshop.”
The workshop served as a great opportunity to get active – physically, socially and creatively while creating your own art of nature.
