  • Inala Wangarra
  • MDA (Multicultural Development Association)
  • QPASTT (Queensland Program of Assistance for Survivors of Torture and Trauma)
  • PCYC
  • Lions FC
  • Football Queensland
  • Football Brisbane

Launched in April 2018, Kick Start Inala is a new community program which aims to provide inclusive and sustainable soccer opportunities for our children, young people and families in Inala.

Kick Start Inala provided free weekly afternoon soccer sessions at five local schools: Serviceton South State School, Durack State School, Australian International Islamic College, Inala State School and Richlands East State School.

Kick Start Inala has specifically created “P.R.I.D.E.” values in honour of our five participating schools:

Perseverance (Richlands East State School)

Respect (Inala State School)

Integrity (Australian International Islamic College)

Discipline (Serviceton South State School)

Enjoyment (Durack State School)

On June 17th 2018, we held the first ever Kick Start Inala Community Cup soccer tournaments for children (winner: Durack State School), Women’s Open (winner: African United) and Men’s Open (winner: Somali Youth Inala).

On June 23rd 2018, to make things more exciting, Kick Start Inala Grand Finale was held as a curtain-raiser to the main game of Lions FC against Mackay and Whitsundays Magpies Crusaders United FC at Lions FC (133 Pine Road, Richlands 4077).

For the Grand Finale, Kick Start Inala handpicked the most committed and talented students from our five participating local schools to form two mixed “Super-Stars-Select” teams in the final competition. Students from different schools had the valuable opportunity to bond, as well as their families and friends from the community who were invited to the celebratory game for free.

From 4.30pm-5.30pm, everyone watched and cheered as our students got a taste of playing soccer as if they were in the big leagues.

For the award ceremony, we invited special guests Federal Labor Member Milton Dick and Forest Lake Ward Councillor Charles Strunk who provided great words of encouragement and presented trophies to our students representing their schools. All participants were winners in our eyes!

We are all incredibly thankful for all the positive feedback and support received throughout this Kick Start Inala program. Tonight’s Grand Finale was a wonderful eye-opener for many of our students to literally play in the fields of professional soccer. We are proud of all students who have displayed ongoing commitment, great sportsmanship and ‘P.R.I.D.E.’ values. Schools and parents have also commended our program in increasing overall fitness levels, enthusiasm and soccer skills. We look forward to providing more community support through amazing programs like Kick Start Inala,” said our Inala Community House Community Engagement Manager Haley Kiata.
