On Friday 26th July 2019, Inala Community House Community Engagement team helped to organise the annual Inala World Hepatitis Day event.
From 11am, the free public event was held at the carpark of Metro South Health (64 Wirraway Parade, Inala). The aim was to raise awareness and generate positive conversations about hepatitis health.

The working group provided free healthy lunch wraps and chicken soup to our community. There were also various healthy snacks and water bottles for all.
All participants were encouraged to take a quiz to test their knowledge about hepatitis, and will receive a free health pack (containing toothbrush, toothpaste, tissue, condoms, soap and razor) in return. We had a total of 70 free packs to giveaway.
Thank you to Kombi Clinic for providing free blood tests and fibro scans on-site too.
“It is important for people to get tested and if needed, treated. Hepatitis C is easily curable so we want people to be more aware and proactive,” Dr Matthew Young from Kombi Clinic said.
“Today’s event marks a successful partnership with all our amazing partners. Our team is happy to be present to provide fresh, healthy food to our diverse Inala community while educating people about hepatitis health. We really encourage everyone to come and access the free health checks and information to protect yourself and loved ones,” our Community Engagement Manager Haley Kiata said.
World Hepatitis Day is celebrated on 28 July every year to raise awareness about viral hepatitis and influence real change.
