Framework for Moving Towards Community Healing and Accountability

  • Community Outreach Development

    (awareness, preparation) This is about raising community awareness, possibilities for change, and the sharing of each other’s knowledge/skills, around violence against women and children. Development and Preparation.

  • Community Mobilisation

    For active community participation and engagement in a community-based approach for addressing the problem of violence against women and children. Empowering community members to do something, no matter how small.

  • Community Organisation

    Involves longer-term strategies meant to increase sustained community-based capacity to address violence against women and children. It is further divided into community organising (general) eg HUB, and community organising (among those most affected) survivors.

  • Community Healing and Accountability

    Develops the capacity of community members to support survivors and hold abusers accountable for their violence. (HUB, Peace Builders and PODS). Creates sustained cultural change around what community will accept and do in the face of violence.

Collective Respect and Responsibility

Work cooperatively and creatively alongside established systems, but call out failings and push for change when needed
